Good Morning,

Astrology is a complex science; requiring the ability to interpret the various parts of a chart (planets, signs and houses) and how they relate to one another as well as to current planetary patterns. I liken the chart to the various gears of an antique clock working together to tell time. A master Astrologer is one who is able to combine all the moving parts of a chart to tell ‘astrological’ time. There are infinite parts of a chart which can be studied (especially when you account for the various kinds of Astrology that exist). Sometimes Astrology can become overwhelming when attempting to make sense of all the parts and that’s when the message can become diffused.

What is also known about Astrology is that in addition to understanding the symbols, there is an art to chart interpretation. This requires a ‘letting go’ of the mental understanding and inviting our ability to connect to our intuitive promptings which ‘speak’ to us as ideas that pop into our minds, creative promptings of symbol interpretation or a feeling we get as to areas of the chart on which to focus.

The Moon is one energy which allows us to connect to our intuition. The Moon orbits the Earth every 24 hours; reflecting the light of the Sun back to us through its various lunations. Symbolically the Moon relays intuitive, subjective and instinctive information through our feelings. Think of when the Moon is Full (when the Moon and the Sun are in opposition symbolizing the ‘feelings’ and ‘self expression’ at ‘odds’ with one another) and the stories you hear of people behaving wildly; as the connection to unbridled instinct runs high! Astrologers follow the daily lunar energy in order to interpret what the collective will be feeling.

This morning I awoke with a lot of energy to get things done and began to immediately check things off my ‘to do’ list. When I sat down to write this blog, I smiled when realizing that I had already been intuitively feeling the energy of the day. The Moon is in the sign of Virgo which rules health, the powers of assimilation, cleansing as well as discrimination and detailed analysis. The Moon is trining Mars retrograde in Capricorn all day until 10:37pm (MST). Mars is the planet of self assertion, drive and action and retrograde in Capricorn allows us to review how we assert the self through our work, effort and authority. Moon/Mars times combines the instinct and the ability to act. No wonder I was feeling the urge to schedule that next cleansing hot yoga class, remembering to take my vitamins, folding that load of laundry and inspired to measure the exact size of my travel bag to make sure it is small enough to fit in the overhead compartment!  I am thankful for the Moon in Virgo time of focusing on the details and Mars’ surge of energy to accomplish what needs to be done. This is also a time to discern which goals we want to put effort toward accomplishing in our lives. What I like most about my experience this morning is its affirmation that we can all be attuned to the Astrological clock as we connect to our feelings and allow the Astrological energies to move through us and animate our beings.

Make it a great day!
