Good Morning!

Today is the Autumnal Equinox in the Northern Hemisphere; when the day and night are of equal length because of the Suns position, relative to the Equator, due to the tilt of Earth on it’s axis as it rotates around the Sun. Symbolically in Astrology, this time marks the Sun’s entrance into the sign of Libra. We call this the beginning of the ‘Fall’ season as the Sun’s light begins to decrease while the days get shorter. As the leaves begin to change and the last of the harvest is being collected there is a feeling, or a literal experience, of endings and beginning to turn our awareness inward; becoming more self reflective. The Sun, our conscious awareness and expression of our individuality, expressed through the sign of Libra, is considered to be in its ‘Fall’. Libra relates to the scales of justice, weighing things out before acting, which encourages diplomacy, harmony and balance through relating to others but this can also cause indecision and co-dependence due to the desire to please and keep the peace.

During this Equinox time, the Moon is in the Water sign of Pisces; a energy of changeable fluidity based on intuitive sensing as well as our ability to relate to others compassionately and with empathy. The Moon in Pisces sextiles Uranus in Taurus at 9:56am (MST) reminding us of our new and unique value systems that are emerging at this time; helping us to avoid any confusion, martyrdom or vagueness that Pisces Moon can bring. Pisces is also our spiritual expression. I am reminded of a beautiful quote from a dear friend, “Life is ceremony.” Can we bring reverent ceremonial beauty to everything we do; accepting it all and releasing in the process?

The Moon in Pisces sextiles Saturn in Capricorn at 11:56am (MST). Saturn in Capricorn (which will be a focal point of Monday’s Full Moon) asks us to stand in our truth and self authority. It offers strength at this time to release and continue to move toward new foundations we want to build in our lives.

The Moon in Pisces trines Venus in Scorpio at 10:22pm (MST). Over the next 4 months, Venus is Scorpio is connecting us with a deeper experience of expressing affection and having our pleasure and social needs met in our lives. We can begin to sense those deeper needs at this time.

An additional and very important theme of the Equinox, which Monday’s Full Moon will magnify, is reclaiming our strength in the ability to communicate with others; in all kinds of relationships. Mercury, which has moved into Libra, is exactly opposing Chiron in Aries today. Chiron, the wounded healer, in the sign of Aries, relates to unhealed wounds that keep us from feeling our strength, power, and ability to assert ourselves. At this time, we can heal by reclaiming our warrior strength and our ability to express ourselves with courage, while practicing diplomacy through our communication.

Assisting us in communicating with diplomacy is Mercury in Libra, which is near the Sun today. Mercury is also moving towards a trine to Mars in Aquarius; helping us to feel more confident in expressing our ideas; even if it’s different from what others think. Mercury is also inconjunct Uranus in Taurus at this time, asking us to incorporate our new values into how we communicate. If others don’t ‘get’ us, that’s okay. Avoid trying to change others minds. I personally experienced this last night as I was enthusiastically trying to explain myself and started to get that feeling my ideas were being challenged, unsupported and dismissed. Not everyone will understand us and and that’s okay. Avoid falling into the Chiron in Aries trap of not believing in ourselves. Remember everyone is on their own journey. Bless those teachers who help us ultimately stand in our strength and move on! After all, they are a reflection of that part of us we want to release to step into our power!

Make it a great day!
